Announcing Tech leadership to power Wing’s increasing pace of scale.

As Wing continues its expansion as the global leader in residential drone delivery, we are in the midst of a pivotal moment of scale. To maintain our competitive edge with our lightweight aircraft and infrastructure, and to meet our ambitious goals to expand across the US and beyond in 2027, we have appointed new engineering leadership to reflect the complexity and scale of our operations.

Brandon Jones as Wing’s new Chief Autonomous Systems & Applications Officer

With over two decades of experience in autonomous aviation and flight systems, Brandon will be responsible for the end-to-end autonomy powering Wing’s delivery network:  leading multi-disciplinary teams pioneering at-scale autonomous flight by advancing physical AI, safety-critical flight software, advanced simulation and flight test.  He will also oversee Wing’s fully integrated ground systems, Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM), and commerce-facing digital platforms.  Brandon has been with Wing for more than a decade, and has been at the forefront of autonomous flight systems for much of his career. Brandon helped guide Wing through some of the foundational decisions that have defined the company from the early days, when the company sat in Google X, Alphabet’s moonshot factory. Prior to Wing, Brandon was an Aerospace Engineer for the US Navy in the Aircraft Carrier Suitability Flight Test and Evaluation branch at Patuxent River, MD. He supported F/A-18 Automatic Carrier Landing System development and the X-47B Unmanned Carrier Air System Demonstrator (UCAS-D), for which he and his team won a Collier Trophy for the greatest achievement in aeronautics in America in 2013. He graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles in Aerospace Engineering and US Naval Test Pilot School, Class 133.

Paul Gojenola joins as Chief Hardware Development & Manufacturing Operations Officer

Paul joined Wing earlier this year with over 30 years of experience shipping a wide variety of high-volume consumer electronics at Google, Apple, and Amazon. Most recently, he spent 10 years as a VP of Hardware at Google, leading teams for products like Google Nest, Google Home, Fitbit, and Pixel Tablets.  An industry veteran with deep experience building teams and scaling hardware solutions, he will lead Wing’s Hardware Development & Manufacturing Operations teams - which are responsible for building the physical hardware of our aircraft and the supporting infrastructure that powers Wing’s delivery service. Paul will lead the team from the Bay Area, colocating with Wing’s hardware development lab.  

Looking Ahead

Since its inception, Wing has attracted the best technical talent in the aviation and technology space, a key component to the early design decisions that have helped create the leading drone delivery network we have today, from being the first drone delivery company to attain a Part 135 Carrier Certification, to the first to scale residential delivery across multiple markets, to now serving hundreds of communities daily, with more every week.
