About the Role:

Wing is looking for a Controller to join our Finance team, based remotely in the US. As the Controller, you will be a key leader within our finance organization, responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, compliance with accounting policies and procedures, internal controls, and adherence to GAAP standards. You will play a critical role in guiding strategic financial decisions and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. A team player at heart, you collaborate with other teams at Wing and Alphabet, advocate best practices, and lead a dynamic accounting team while rolling up your sleeves to pitch in when it's all hands on deck. This role requires an exceptional blend of technical accounting expertise, strategic thinking, leadership, and communication skills. The ideal candidate will be a critical thinker and an amazing manager who actively involves their team, providing them with opportunities to lead, grow, and excel. You move fast while keeping your attention to detail, and you tap into your problem-solving skills to support Wing's business objectives.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead the accounting operations, including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk.
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting and adherence to GAAP principles.
  • Simplify complex accounting topics into clear, concise executive summaries for senior management.
  • Drive the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and compliance.
  • Act as a project manager, leading cross-functional teams to ensure the successful completion of finance-related projects.
  • Dedicate time to thoroughly understand the intricacies of our complex tech business model and its implications on financial management and strategy.
  • Provide proactive, excellent cross-functional support to various departments, embodying a customer service mentality.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, inclusivity, and professional development within the finance team.
  • Serve as lead accounting contact that coordinates cross functionally with Alphabet on compliance and accounting operations (e.g., Treasury, Tax, Technical Accounting, etc)
  • Oversee compliance with stock administration activities  
  • Coordinate with FP&A to produce monthly and quarterly Forecast vs. Actual reporting.
  • Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with regulations
  • Coordinate with FP&A on the annual budgeting process and provide support for ongoing analysis of financial performance
  • Coordinate external audits and ensure timely completion with minimal disruptions
  • Evaluate and implement financial systems and processes to improve efficiency and accuracy
  • Provide strategic financial insights to senior management to support decision-making

What You’ll Need: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in accounting or strategic finance roles
  • 7+ years of people management experience
  • Proven experience in a Controller or related role within a tech or high growth industry, demonstrating a deep understanding of technical accounting and financial management
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) designation Mastery of GAAP and extensive experience with accounting policies and procedures
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with a track record of developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to distill complex accounting topics into understandable summaries.
  • Outstanding project management skills and experience leading cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work with minimal guidance and in a team environment
  • A proactive, responsive approach to cross-functional support and collaboration.
  • Customer service-oriented mindset, with a focus on supporting and enabling the success of other departments.
  • A passion for learning the business and partnering with company leaders to proactively provide insights and support 
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities

Bonus: 

  • Proficiency in SAP
  • Demonstrated experience in cost accounting and inventory management
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and managing proforma/management reports
  • Excellent business acumen, with the ability to work amidst ambiguity

The US base salary range for this full-time position is the salary range below + bonus + equity + benefits. Wing’s salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your location during the hiring process.
