When delivering items, our aircraft never touches the ground. The package is lowered by a tether, and once the package is delivered, the tether retracts back into the aircraft.
From our aircraft’s physical construction to the software we’ve designed for it to fly––safety is our top priority. We’ve designed our aircraft with purposeful redundancies, like additional motors, batteries, and even multiple navigation systems for protection from in-flight issues. Onboard software helps the aircraft understand its surroundings, process information, and even monitor its own health and performance in real time.
Our aircraft charges on dedicated pads to ensure their batteries are in top shape for their next delivery. After a customer places an order, our UTM software plans the best route using local weather data, terrain and airspace maps, and other drone activity. Once this route is determined to be free from obstacles and other drones, it is sent to our aircraft so it can safely fly to the customer. After landing, all systems are automatically checked to make sure our aircraft is ready to fly again. Our trained pilots oversee everything to make sure it’s operating smoothly.

Wing’s flight operations software was built to provide UTM services and allows Wing, as well as recreational drone operators and aviation service providers, to manage complex flight paths and monitor the aircraft in real time. Wing’s software was informed by its work with international government partners, including NASA and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in the United States and the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) in Australia.
