Hey Drone Flyer! Welcome to OpenSky!

You landed here because you’re getting ready to fly your drone somewhere outside of the United States or Australia and you need to make sure you are following airspace rules.

Today, the OpenSky app is only available in the U.S. and Australian Google Play and Apple app stores. We first launched in Australia in June 2019. Since then, we’ve had the pleasure of supporting a vibrant and growing community of commercial and recreational drone flyers from the desert of Alice Springs to the coastline of Western Australia (and everywhere in between).

We were excited to bring the OpenSky app to U.S. drone flyers in June of 2021 as an FAA-approved LAANC supplier, which means we can enable near real-time authorization to fly in controlled airspace. This is on top of our existing functionality like flight planning and logging.

We will also be bringing the app to France through a partnership with the aviation authority DSNA.

Wing, as a business, is made up of many commercial operators, but, personally, we are also full of aviation enthusiasts, pilots, modelers and photographers. We think that OpenSky can be a useful tool to support all types of drone flyers, like us, and we are working with regulators around the world to make that happen.

If you sign up for our newsletter, you will be the first to know about our expansion plans, feature updates and general information on the state of global drone policy. And if you want to check it out, a web version of the OpenSky app is available at opensky.wing.com.

Fly responsibly,

The OpenSky Team
