Launching in Greater Orlando first, the new service saves time for busy families and brings ultra-fast drone delivery to visitors from around the world.

With summer travel and the summer heat in full swing, Wing and Walmart today started drone delivery in Greater Orlando, Wing’s first market in Florida. Central Florida residents can now choose from thousands of daily essentials at Walmart, including sunscreen, school supplies, electronics and last-minute ingredients delivered directly by Wing drones in as fast as 30 minutes.

“We measure success in minutes saved and life made a little easier in Central Florida,” said Heather Rivera, Wing’s Chief Business Officer. “Whether it’s helping a family grab a quick lunch without loading everyone into the car, or delivering sunscreen to a visitor at their vacation rental, we want drone delivery to be a simple, seamless part of daily routines.”

Wing is now delivering to well over 50,000 homes, businesses, and apartment buildings surrounding the following Walmart locations:

  • Walmart Supercenter #955, 1700 S. Orange Blossom Trail, Apopka, FL 32703

  • Walmart Supercenter #2695, 1450 Johns Lake Road, Clermont, FL 34711

This is just the beginning for Wing and Walmart, with plans to expand throughout Central Florida, including the following locations in the coming weeks:

  • Walmart Supercenter #942, 10500 W Colonial Dr, Ocoee, FL 34761

  • Walmart Supercenter #5299, 550 Us Highway 27, Clermont, FL 34714

  • Walmart Supercenter #725, 36205 Us Highway 27, Haines City, FL 33844

World-class service for a global destination

Orlando’s diverse, growing population makes it the ideal first market for Wing in Florida. Residents often face long drives for simple errands. By moving packages to the sky, Wing’s drones bypass traffic, saving busy households precious time.

“At Walmart, we’re always looking for new ways to give customers more choice and flexibility,” said Greg Cathey, Senior Vice President, eCommerce Fulfillment Transformation at Walmart. “Working with Wing allows us to bring Orlando customers a wide assortment of everyday items through one of the fastest and most innovative delivery options available.”

As a world-class vacation destination, introducing drone delivery here allows domestic and international tourists visiting Greater Orlando to experience ultra-fast delivery firsthand. Visitors can now easily restock on vacation essentials before spending the day enjoying the area’s attractions.

Expanding the nation’s largest drone delivery network

Wing and Walmart are building their drone delivery service area in a big way this year. Following successful launches in Houston, Atlanta, and Dallas-Fort Worth, the companies are continuing to expand to reach nearly 20 US metros coast-to-coast. These new service areas will include other major hubs like Los Angeles, San Diego, Miami and Philadelphia.

Safe delivery to the Central Florida community

Wing’s drones cruise safely at about 150-200 feet and up to 60 mph, blending into the sounds of a neighborhood. Once they reach a property, the drone lowers to about 20 feet and, using a secure tether, lowers the package gently to the ground.

Central Florida residents can check out drone delivery today. Follow these steps to get started:

  1. Check eligibility: Customers using the Walmart app will see drone delivery as an option if the address associated with their account is within the delivery range. Visit wing.com/walmart to verify your address is in the service area. If you aren’t eligible now, you can choose to join the waitlist and be a first flyer when you become eligible.

  2. Order: Choose drone delivery from the Walmart app or Walmart.com, or order on the Wing app.

  3. Shop: Simply fill your cart and checkout as usual. Wing drones transport up to 2.5 pounds per flight currently, with plans to increase to 5 pounds, delivering orders in minutes.
