Wing is looking for a manufacturing process engineer to join our manufacturing team based in Palo Alto, CA. The ideal candidate has a passion for electromechanical or robotic systems, a demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing process development and optimization for new product introduction at contract manufacturing, and the ability to deliver results as part of a dynamic, cross-functional team.

What You’ll Do: 

  • Drive PCBA DFM review with EE and PD to identify and evaluate the manufacturing risk during NPI stage.
  • Qualify and scale PCBA manufacturing process, set-up high standard and reliable manufacturing process.
  • Partner with EE, PD, sourcing and Quality teams to identify and resolve PCBA manufacturing challenges by following best practices and principles.
  • Lead PCBA manufacturing process improvement for yield, cost and efficiency during each build.
  • Plan, develop and implement effective and reliable  procedures for PCBA manufacturing process, rework/repair process for mass production. (Including post assembly processes such as conformal/waterproof coating).
  • Provide production support engineering for complex SMT procedures, testing methods and failure analysis.
  • Establish, deliver, and maintain manufacturing processes for new products throughout the product life cycle: Work with ODMs, CMs, and vendors to prioritize and solve problems. Drive continuous improvement through the supply chain, resulting in reduced cycle time, increased yields and improved cost. 

What You'll Need: 

  • BS or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Material science or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of PCBA/PCB design and SMT manufacturing experience from NPI to volume production
  • Knowledge of and understanding of SMT, Wave solder and PTH processes. 
  • Knowledge of and understanding of IPC A- 610 standards.
  • Experience with new product introduction and manufacturing operations.
  • Proven track record of engineering design, project management, and cost reduction.
  • Experience with experimental design and execution (Statistical analysis and DOE).
  • Able to read and understand the PCBA drawing, layout and placement files
  • Excellent communicator and team player -- capable to identify the time when help is needed and ask for help


  • 10+ years of experience in PCBA DFM and manufacturing environment 
  • Experience with advanced PCB technologies, SiP module, and advanced manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledgeable in FATP process and technology, experience in drone or flight system manufacturing and experience in a fast pace production ramping environment on both NPI and sustaining phase
  • Six sigma training, black belt or Lean manufacturing concepts and methodologies strongly preferred, knowing well how to use statistical software, i.e. JMP, minitab
