About the Role:

Wing is looking for an IT Operations Engineer in Sydney, Australia to join our Technical Infrastructure team, to help Wing succeed with top-level IT systems and support. You'll work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment, deploying tools and systems to support the team’s wide-ranging technical needs in both R&D and externally-facing operations. This role includes aspects of systems administration and IT implementation. We’re looking for strongly self-motivated candidates that can handle complex tasks with light supervision.

When, and only when, it is safe to travel post-COVID-19, occasional travel (incl. USA, EU and APAC) will be required to support our operations, including turning up new infrastructure locations.

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage our virtual and physical server deployments, covering implementation, maintenance, management, monitoring of Linux (and a few Windows) systems
  • Deploy and manage Wing's internal applications and services across a global fleet of servers
  • Manage backups and restores, handle updates and upgrades
  • Create documentation for Wing's technical systems
  • Deploy Wing infrastructure to our field operation sites around the world
  • Plan and deploy IT infrastructure systems for field operations use
  • Asset tracking and inventory of Wing technology assets
  • Manage and support Wing's users, for both internal users and external customers
  • Onboard new Wing team members in our IT systems (account creation, mailing lists, access groups)
  • Support user onboarding and IT account maintenance for customer-facing products
  • Keep onboarding guides and documentation up to date

What You'll Need:

  • BA/BS degree (In lieu of degree, relevant skills or equivalent experience)
  • At least 2 years of systems administration and/or technical support
  • Proficiency with cloud-based distributed systems
  • Strong familiarity with Linux systems/application administration
  • Experience with managing various server and mobile devices (Linux/macOS/Windows, iOS/Android)
  • Proficient in common TCP/IP protocols and general networking (TCP/UDP/ICMP, DNS, HTTPS, SNMP subnetting, routing, etc.)
  • Strong proficiency in at least one scripting language, Python preferred


  • Excels in dynamic environments with rapidly changing goals and needs
  • Able to manage multiple tasks effectively, determining priority, and updating stakeholders on progress
  • Previous experience in IT helpdesk environments a plus
  • Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform systems and operations
    • e.g. Compute Engine, Cloud Load Balancer, Cloud Networking/Firewall, Stackdriver, Cloud IAM
  • Can describe high level functionality and flow of key components of supported systems, including backend systems such as DHCP, DNS, authentication and authorisation systems
  • Experience with Google GSuite administration
  • Able to develop and execute application setup and management on Google Cloud Platform
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow
