About the Role:
Wing is looking for a Geospatial Analyst in our Palo Alto, CA office. As a Geospatial Analyst in the Flight Operations team, you will analyze large scale data sets from multiple sources to provide supporting information that serves our delivery service flight operations. You will work closely with engineering teams, defining tool chains that streamline the data capture and validation process. You will be responsible for the development of geospatial data analysis pipelines to resolve mapping and terrain challenges.
What You’ll Do:
- Own the geospatial analysis intake process and communication to stakeholders who are requesting geospatial support.
- Develop and own the execution of rigorous geospatial data collection and surveying processes.
- Oversee the quality assurance process for all geospatial data sets.
- Analyze multiple data sources to determine what’s happening on the ground as it relates to the safe flight operations.
- Gather requirements for a large scale geospatial analysis intake process, partner with multidisciplinary teams to introduce automation where possible.
- Drive the end to end product development lifecycle for automated geospatial tools from ideation to system deployment.
What You’ll Need:
- 5+ years of experience with mapping technologies, and/or GIS data visualization tools or GIS oriented web applications
- Master’s degree in Geographic Information Systems or a similar field of study or equivalent practical experience.
- A high level of experience with Geospatial database management and GIS libraries such as gdal/ogr, spatialite, ArcGIS or equivalent.
- Prior experience with software product life cycle.
- Some experience with land surveying.
Bonus:
- Experience working with raw data sources such as GPS/IMU, camera imagery, LIDAR
- Familiarity with structure from motion algorithms, tools and limitations
- Familiarity with point cloud manipulation tools and libraries.
